Adjunct Math Comp Science

Drew University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science to teach computer science classes in person or online to approximately 30 undergraduate students per section. Computer Systems and Architecture meets on MWF from 2:40 - 3:45 and Object Oriented Programming in Java meets on MWF from 1:15 - 2:20. Our semester runs for 14 weeks from 8/28/23 to 12/8/2023 (except Labor Day, 9/4, Fall Break from 10/9-10/10 and Thanksgiving from 11/22-11/24), with final exams scheduled between 12/11 and 12/15. Instructor compensation is $4,500 per course, or $9,000 for both courses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Computer Systems and/or Architecture and Object Oriented Programming in Java

• Assign and grade homework and exams

• Hold office hours

• Assign course grades that are a reflection of student ability

• Be passionate about innovative teaching within a liberal arts context in small classes

Required Education and Experience:

• Previous success or promise in teaching computer science

• Ph.D. or Master's in computer science or a related discipline
