Job Description:

The History and Philosophy Department at SUNY Old Westbury regularly seeks to hire adjunct instructors to teach courses as needed in the department. The History and Philosophy Department offers a B.A. degree in History with a liberal arts track and a social studies track and a B.A degree in Philosophy and Religion. Geography courses are required for the History major as well as other programs on campus and are housed in the History and Philosophy department. These courses also serve the general education curriculum. Candidates for adjunct positions should have a record of high-quality teaching in support of the College Mission.

We are seeking applicants who can teach the following types of introductory Geography courses:

  • Intro to Geography

  • Human Geography

  • World Regional Geography

  • Introductory GIS

If you are qualified to teach other geography courses in addition to the courses mentioned above (for example on the geography specific world region), please indicate this in your letter of application.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Master's degree in Geography or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or ABD in Geography or closely related field.

  • Previous teaching experience at the college level.

  • Experience teaching a culturally diverse student population.

Additional Information:
