Job Description:

The Business Program is housed in the School of Business and Leadership and has programs that are nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The department seeks part-time Adjunct Faculty Nonprofit Management instructors for classes beginning in the Fall 2023 semester. Ideal candidates should be adaptive, possess strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate the capacity to enhance the University's nonprofit management program, have a strong record of teaching, and experience working in the nonprofit sector.

The Nonprofit Management (NPMT) program is offered only online and asynchronously for courses of seven-weeks duration. Instructors help NPMT graduates gain familiarity with industry best practices in the nonprofit sector, evaluate nonprofit organizational management principles through multiple case studies, develop acumen in ethical organizational decision making, and rehearse soft skills essential for nonprofit leaders, whether on staff, as program volunteers, or through service as governing board members. NPMT adjunct instructors also assist the NPMT program head guide students through the courses they teach, equipping students to develop and prepare final presentations for their program-long capstone projects that are delivered at the end of their final capstone course. Prepare syllabi, lectures, assignments, and assessments as appropriate to the course under the supervision of the NPMT program head who provides a sample syllabus and selects the textbook(s) for the course. Be available for individual student assistance (outside scheduled class time) at least one hour per week per section, and/or respond to telephone or electronic communication from students within 24-48 hours. Guide students through course learning resources and advise them to fulfill student self-imposed capstone project preparations, make progress in student work breakdown structure (WBS) objectives, and meet student-defined deadlines associated with their Gantt Chart capstone project milestones, in concert with the NPMT program head.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be academically qualified and should hold a terminal (doctorate) degree in management or a related business, public administration, or philanthropic leadership type of discipline with at least 18 graduate level semester credit hours in one or more of the NPMT course curricula from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

  • Nonprofit management sector work experience of five years or more.

  • Candidate should express enthusiasm for and commitment to a values-based inclusive learning environment where expected student outcomes include the development of their students' ethical sensibilities, adoption of sound business practices, and fair and equitable treatment of all NPO current and prospective stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Graduate level teaching experience

  • Teaching experience using one or more online learning management systems

  • Teaching experience with students of diverse backgrounds

  • Prior work experience in a faith-based college or university in the U.S.

  • Familiarity with case study, project-based, and experiential learning methodologies

  • Nonprofit sector-recognized certifications, such as in fundraising, talent development and management, community enrichment or preparedness, and/or project management

  • Substantial nonprofit organization (NPO) experience of 10 years or more as a member of an NPO governing board, successful service as an NPO executive director or C-Suite staff leader, program lead volunteer, and/or success starting up and shepherding the development of one or more NPOs.

  • More than five years of experience consulting NPOs in one or more organization functional areas.
