Teach long term care course in a face to face and/or virtual environment. This environment will include effective assessment of student learning with course design that connects students to content, each other and the working environment. This part-time position includes classroom (both face to face and online) instruction, lab and clinical. Flexible hours.

Wage is $31.00/hour for clinical and instruction .

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboration with the Long-Term Care Coordinator to ensure appropriate coordination of the CNA program.

  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, laboratory skills and clinical work assignments

  • Supervise students' laboratory skills and clinical work.

  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.

  • Conduct necessary instruction within area high schools.

  • Conduct effective instruction in all assigned areas, using approved course outlines.

  • Notify the Long-Term Care Coordinator as early as possible of inability to meet a class.

  • Measure and evaluate student progress and maintain accurate grade computations.   Submit grade reports to supervisor according to designated timelines.

  • Attend all required meetings.

  • Complete five hours of Professional development each school year.

  • Assist in promotion and recruitment of CNA students.

  • Enforce all Iowa Central Community College student policies.

  • Provide students with written course expectations, including course objectives, attendance policy, methods of evaluation and grading practices.

  • Other duties as directed by Long Term Care Coordinator.

Current RN license in the State of Iowa. 1-2 years experience in Long Term Care. Basic computer skills.

Copies of all academic transcripts are required.  Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment, a complete set of original transcripts will be required.

  • Broad knowledge of nursing at the CNA level.

  • Ability to work with a wide range of students in the classroom, lab, online and clinical settings.

  • Ability to provide effective instruction across entire curriculum to broad spectrum of traditional and nontraditional students.

  • Understanding of, and agreement with the philosophy, and learning outcomes of ICCC program.

  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.  Instructing others how to do something.

  • Demonstrates organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrates time management skills.

  • Speaking to others to convey information effectively.

  • Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new information.

  •  Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and interrupting at inappropriate times.

GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves constant (67-100%) talking or listening to persons over the telephone and in person, sitting, visual activity, repetitive motion while utilizing computer equipment; frequent (34-66%) getting up and down, reaching, standing, and walking; and occasional (10-33%) filing, lifting up to 25 pounds.
