Employment Terms: This job is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA Exempt/Professional position in the Public and Professional Services Division that reports to the Program Director - General Automotive Technology.

Salary: Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum based on contact hours taught.

Minimum Requirements (Job Code 10317): Must hold a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline OR AAT/AS/AAS in Automotive Technology AND two years related work experience. Must hold ASE Certification OR other industry certifications. Must have minimum of two years relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:Post-secondary teaching experience.

Job Description:Prepares and delivers lecture and/or lab course material. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for specified courses. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately. Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts.

  • Organize and conduct classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities.

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude toward students.

  • Demonstrate current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas to be taught.

  • Accurately and timely submit required reports.

  • Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.

  • Communicates students' progress to student and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines.

  • Accurately records pertinent information in students' records as required.

  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.

This position will assist the department's Training Academy staff and demonstrateknowledge and techniques of current procedures in the Paramedic/EMT field. The department's paramedic program is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Duties include a flexible schedule of assisting with didactic, psychomotor and clinical courses as assigned to include oversight of students during patient care practice and testing, student record-keeping, and performance of other assignments outlined by the department's Paramedic/EMT education program. Instructors must follow and enforce Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services' guidelines and practices.
