Job Overview

The Fire Science program at the University of Cincinnati seeks a qualified term adjunct (part-time) faculty to bring experience and guidance to our students in the Firefighter/ Emergency management field.

Adjunct faculty will bring into the course applicable experience that is crucial for demonstrating real world applications of principles learned during their Associates and Baccalaureate program. They will be responsible for developing and/or teach online, or in person, for the degree programs in Fire Science. Specific courses include, but not limited to: Terrorism Awareness & Prep, Fire Prevention Organizations and Management, Community Risk Reduction, Community Paramedicine, and UAVs.

Essential Functions

  • They will be required to:

  • Develop course material, including syllabus for the assign courses

  • Engage students in the online and/or classroom environment

  • Mentor and monitor student progress

  • Work in conjunction with other Fire Science professors

  • Be accessible to students by phone or email/chat during office hours or at pre-arranged appointment times

  • Submit final grades at the close of the term

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in relevant field (Public Administration, Criminal Justice, etc.) or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or other relevant areas of studies with significant professional experience.
