Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College's fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland's most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

General Description:

Faculty will be responsible for teaching studio art courses in two and/or three-dimensional media. Students may include enrollees in the College's Early College Academy. This teaching position also involves the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Classes may be scheduled in the day or evening. Due to the need of interaction with students, employees, and the college community this position requires in person presence for most courses. This position is eligible for limited telework.

General Responsibilities: Faculty Members Shall:

  • Conduct assigned classes in accordance with the approved master course syllabus and stipulations of the department, including but not limited to administering a final exam or culminating activity, meeting all assigned class times, and submitting attendance and grades as per college processes.

  • Utilize the current College course management system. (See Learning Management System Policy)

  • Establish, post, and maintain at least one-half hour before or after class meetings.

  • Adhere to copyright laws provided on the library site for the college web portal.

  • Regularly and routinely check Cecil College email accounts and respond in a timely manner to emails, including those from the department chair, administrative staff, and students. Cecil College email must be used for all email communication with students and any college business.

  • Participate in Cecil College Academic Monitoring.

  • Submit any Incomplete Grade Contracts to the Administrative Assistants in Academic Programs.

  • Support curriculum development in discipline and across college by preparing and revising necessary master course syllabi, utilizing appropriate textbooks or additional course materials, or preparing new master course syllabi and new programs as necessary.

  • Support College-wide testing and actively encourage students to participate.

  • Participate in course assessment and program reports, as needed.

  • Complete required Safe Colleges.

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the College and the policies of the Board of Trustees.

  • Act in accordance with the letter and spirit of applicable laws, College policies, rules, and expectations, and the terms of the contract for the current academic year.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Fine Arts or equivalent graduate credits

  • Successful college-level teaching experience in the related field. Only completed applications (resume, letter of application, portfolio, and unofficial transcripts) will receive consideration. Only applicants who are authorized to work in the United States will be eligible for hire.   • Prior teaching experience in college/university setting, preferred.

  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.

  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.

  • Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
