The Department of Music at Hofstra University is pleased to invite applications for one Adjunct Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Hofstra University is located on Long Island near New York City (25 miles east of Manhattan), with its wealth of business, entertainment, and cultural opportunities. Responsibilities will include teaching ten private lessons per semester to each of the tuba and euphonium students. It is anticipated that there will be eight students. Additionally, two students will be preparing recitals in the fall and the candidate selected will be expected to help these students to prepare and also to attend their recitals.

Scheduling of lesson times is flexible and will need to be worked out between the students and the successful candidate.

The candidate will also be expected to prepare students for the Hofstra OcTubafest and perform at the OcTubafest recital.

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to:

• Master's Degree in Music or equivalent experience, with a focus on Tuba and Euphonium.

• Be a dedicated teacher and active performer.

Preferred Quals Summary

• Demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate classes.

• Previous teaching experience is desirable, but not required.

• A successful candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.

Salary/Salary Range $1,422-$1,669 per credit
