Required Degree: MA in Spanish Linguistics, Literature, Pedagogy or related field

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: Professional experience in teaching Spanish and near-native fluency in written and spoken Spanish are required. Experience teaching at the university third-year level is preferred and familiarity/skill with online teaching and/or technology is a plus.

Duties/Expectations: The candidate may be asked to teach for BYU Provo, BYU Online, or BYU Continuing Education including the Salt Lake Center.

The successful candidate will teach from 1 to 3 third-year undergraduate Spanish courses (SPAN 321, 322 or helping students in the Grammar/Writing Lab) that balance emphasis on Spanish language and its related literatures and cultures. This position requires the adjunct faculty member to hold office hours to meet with students and to be available via email to communicate with students, faculty, and office staff. Other duties may include but are not limited to participating in the Foreign Language Fair held the day after the last day of classes, attending meetings and training with the coordinator of third-year instruction, participating in professional development, and any other important events that require the assistance of the adjunct instructor.

Must reside in the State of Utah to be eligible for employment consideration. Must be willing to teach the course(s) in person, on campus.
