Essential Job Functions
Faculty
Performs in dual roles of student advisor and manager of the clinical practice affiliations
Assists in the annual core curriculum evaluations of the program, assessment of institutional effectiveness and preparation of reports
Maintains quality assurance to remain compliant with all required agencies
Conducts regular visits (site and tele) with students and preceptors
Monitors student's clinical logs
Conducts clinical evaluations, problem solves, and de-briefs students and preceptors
Assesses the instructional needs of students in the program and help coordinate the development of a plan to address these needs
Grades assignments, provides feedback and post grades according to University guidelines
Teaches courses as assigned based on need and expertise
Synchronous session leader for clinical courses
Maintains overload hours if required
Clinician
OTHER DUTIES:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Master's degree in nursing with three (3) years of relevant, recent clinical experience within area of specialty.
Must satisfy a criminal history background check.
Previous teaching experience in an academic setting.
Successful applicants for tenure/tenure-track consideration must hold a terminal degree in the health or biological sciences (e.g., nursing, anthropology, human genetics, public health, epidemiology, etc.); possess research training, a publication record, and experience in the grant funding process commensurate with desired rank and tenure status.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
An earned doctorate in nursing or a doctorate in a related field with a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing;
Formal postdoctoral research training;
A record of accomplishment via publication in peer-reviewed journals;
The ability to establish an extramurally-funded research program
Assistant Professor: Candidates will be expected to establish a strong program of funded research in their own substantive area of interest.
Associate Professor: Candidates will be expected to have a strong history of funded research and scholarship in their own substantive area of interest.
Professor: Candidates will be expected to have a strong history of funded research and scholarship in their own substantive area of interest or programmatic research to support collegiate initiatives, mentoring of junior faculty, and evidence of national and international recognition.
Licensing and Certifications
Applicants must be eligible for or currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Mississippi. Selected candidates must complete the State of Mississippi Registered Nurse licensure process prior to appointment.
Current APRN license in Mississippi and affiliate states or eligibility for licensure as necessary
National Certification in area of advanced specialization
