GENERAL SUMMARY

Clinical faculty are responsible for implementing the clinical component of their assigned nursing division course at both the clinical site and during schedule skill labs. Clinical faculty do this by working in collaboration with the Nursing Administrative Staff and other course members to ensure that students participate in the observational and technical experiences they need to satisfy the desired outcomes of the course. Clinical faculty members are responsible for the directions and supervision of students during clinical experiences and skill lab sessions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Attend course planning meetings for the assigned clinical course. Clinical Faculty members are required to attend.

  • Contact theory faculty for dates and times of the meetings.

  • Become familiar with the theoretical content presented in class and correlates this content to the clinical

experience.

  • Other duties as assigned

Thoroughly prepare for and attend all scheduled skills lab sessions for the assigned course:

  • Prepare students to safely and effectively perform clinical skills

  • Prepare laboratory for activities and clean up laboratory after activities.

  • Communicate with Coordinator regarding availability of supplies and condition of the equipment

  • Plan and provide laboratory experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the course

  • Learn to use Jenzabar to access course content and students.

Thoroughly prepare for and attend all scheduled clinical rotations for the assigned course:

  • Select student's daily clinical assignments

  • Direct student learning experiences as appropriate for assigned area and course content

  • Coordinate student learning experiences with clinical agencies/nursing services staff Initiate incident reports related to students and alert Course Nursing Faculty and appropriate level coordinator

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Master's of Science in Nursing Degree

  • Current MA RN license in good standing

  • 5 years experience as an RN

  • Demonstrated computer competency

  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
