Are you looking for a rewarding career where you can change lives? Strayer University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member to join our academics team. We are currently in search of a passionate professor for an on-ground graduate level Mathematics class for the upcoming Summer quarter, starting July 2, 2018. Our classes are on a 12-week quarter schedule and typically run one evening per week from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Teach courses assigned from a pre-designed curriculum and utilize your professional expertise to provide high quality instruction

  • Enhance the strength and effectiveness of the curriculum by infusing technology into it, to include videos and social media.

  • Utilize online learning platform (Blackboard) to enrich the student learning experience

  • Be available to students via email, phone, text and office hours to ensure students receive quality feedback in a timely manner to support their academic success

  • Experience teaching at a college level, preferably with adult learners

  • Adhere to university policies and procedures

Education Requirement:

  • All degrees must be conferred and from an accredited institution to be considered

  • Doctorate in any discipline with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter hours of graduate course work in Statistics, Mathematics, or Operations Research.


  • Effectively communicate with all levels of the university

  • Manage potentially stressful situations in a professional and ethical manner

  • Mobility within the office, including movement from floor to floor

  • Must be able to lift one (1) pound

VIEW JOBS 9/21/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-12-20T00:00 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will process the semi-monthly payrolls for Adjunct and full-time Faculty employees; will collect and process payroll documents for regular pay, salary increases, separations, lost time, and special payments; will input changes to employeeâ??s master file in CIPPS for taxes and miscellaneous deductions for insurance, direct deposit, annuities and fringe benefits to ensure proper recording and reporting as they relate to payroll operations; will review payroll transactions in CIPPS, Reportline, and Payline; will calculate, update and review salary payments using a computerized database that monitors the length of service; prepares necessary adjusting journal entries into BANNER FINANCE; will prepare external reports for various uses to include the Virginia New Hire Reporting program, monthly CIPPS/PMIS reports to DOA, Gross Pay Exception Reports, and foundation donation contributions; will perform research and analysis of queried payroll transactions for reporting purposes; will prepare and submit monthly reports to the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC); will prepare interdepartmental correspondence as it relates to processing requirements for Faculty and Adjunct payments; will maintain the central filing system and payroll reports; will respond to telephone and walk-in inquiries; and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency with course work in accounting/bookkeeping is required; must have payroll processing experience; must have demonstrated experience with application and interpretation of Federal and State payroll policies and procedures; must have demonstrated experience to perform detailed work with numerical data and make arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately; must be proficient using PC applications, i.e., MSWord and MS Excel; must have experience analyzing, interpreting and applying complex fiscal policies and procedures; and must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and work as a team player. Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: College graduate from an accredited institution and/or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training is preferred. A working knowledge and experience processing Commonwealth of Virginia payroll cycles to include faculty employees; working knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting principles as related to college and university accounting and reporting; and experience using automated accounting systems, preferably CIPPS, BANNER and Kronos.
