Are you looking for a rewarding career where you can change lives? Strayer University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member to join our academics team. We are currently in search of a passionate professor for an on-ground graduate level Economics class for the upcoming Winter quarter, starting January 2, 2019. Our classes are on a 12-week quarter schedule and typically run one evening per week from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Teach courses assigned from a pre-designed curriculum and utilize your professional expertise to provide high quality instruction

  • Enhance the strength and effectiveness of the curriculum by infusing technology into it, to include videos and social media.

  • Utilize online learning platform (Blackboard) to enrich the student learning experience

  • Be available to students via email, phone, text and office hours to ensure students receive quality feedback in a timely manner to support their academic success

  • Experience teaching at a college level, preferably with adult learners

  • Adhere to university policies and procedures

Education Requirement:

  • All degrees must be conferred and from an accredited institution to be considered

  • PhD in Economics

  • D.B.A. in Economics


  • Effectively communicate with all levels of the university

  • Manage potentially stressful situations in a professional and ethical manner

  • Mobility within the office, including movement from floor to floor

  • Must be able to lift one (1) pound

Adjunct Faculty also participate in activities that promote the stature of the academic programs, Departments, and Colleges and abide by the mandates set by the South University Board of Trustees and Administration. Incumbent must assure that the South University philosophy is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and maintenance of an environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion. Key Job Elements 1. Oversees a teaching/lab assistant (as appropriate); orients teaching/lab assistant to roles and responsibilities in the course or lab including review of syllabus, identifying materials/equipment needed in lab setups, review of safety procedures and course/lab concepts. 2. Assists faculty in labs (as appropriate); responsible for setting up lab with appropriate equipment and supplies, observing safety procedures, facilitates student activities and responds to questions, reinforces course concepts, facilitates student ability to think critically about course material, helps students apply concepts to practice and assists in cleanup of lab. Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Accreditation (federal, state, regional), programmatic and or clinical work/history Knowledge 1. For OTRs: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from a regionally accredited University required and a minimum of three years in the specialty area to be taught (e.g., management, mental health, physical disabilities, documentation, pediatrics); or Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and a Master's degree or doctoral degree in a related field from a regionally accredited University, required; Master's degree in Occupational Therapy with teaching experience or a Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from a regionally accredited university and teaching experience, preferred. 2. For COTAs: Minimum of Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from a regionally accredited university is required; an Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant and a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university, preferred. 3. Minimum of one year of experience in instruction or a formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution (required). 4. Minimum of three years of experience as an occupational therapist or certified occupational therapy assistant (required). 5. Active, valid, and unencumbered state licensure or certification as applicable to the discipline. 6. Membership in a professional association tied to area of instruction (preferred). Skills 1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with students and faculty. 2. Excellent time management and attention to detail. 3. Excellent critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills. 4. Excellent teaching skills as evidenced in prior teaching evaluations. 5. Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills) and experience with computerized learning management systems. Abilities 1. Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines. 2. Ability to develop professional rapport and work effectively, cooperatively, and flexibly in a diverse team environment. 3. Ability to read, understand, interpret, and implement academic policies and procedures. 4. Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from students. 5.
