Position Summary:

The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS) Program Adjunct Faculty Member is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of the assigned student learning experiences in the classroom, lab, and/or clinical setting. Members are:

  • Usually non-ranked faculty (individuals previously ranked by this institution or another will be reviewed for title purposes).

  • Hired on a temporary, "as needed" basis.

A fully qualified adjunct faculty member could be a course facilitator for a non-clinical course.

Notes of Clarification:

  • There is no limitation on the time a faculty member may be adjunct.

  • Selection of adjunct faculty occurs by the Dean of Allied Health Sciences and the BSRS Program Director.

  • Adjunct faculty are evaluated by the BSRS Program Director with input from the Dean of Allied Health Sciences based on the work assignment.

  • Individuals who are adjunct, but who have previously worked as ranked faculty at Bellin College, may not have to be interviewed for a regular faculty position so long as they have maintained her/his knowledge and skills in the interim of their absence.

  • Adjunct faculty may apply for open faculty positions.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Complies with the established course syllabus.

  • Confers with the faculty assigned to the course.

  • Facilitates the teaching-learning process in the assigned area.

  • Identifies appropriate learning activities.

  • Advises students as necessary on course content. Refers students to the Advisor and Accommodations Coordinator for other concerns as necessary.

  • Communicates key changes and/or concerns about student performance to Course Facilitator/Faculty, Program Director and/or Dean of Allied Health Sciences

  • Assists with the compiling of quizzes and examinations in consultation with assigned mentor.

  • Writes anecdotal notes concerning the student's clinical performance. Consults with the BSRS Program Director to notify of any student performance issues.

  • Writes clinical evaluations in cooperation with the course faculty.

  • Corrects course assignments/assessments.

  • Suggests areas for possible course revision.

  • Complies with all college policies and procedures.

  • Participates in the College wide efforts related to continuous quality improvement.

  • Maintains professional confidentiality.

  • Promotes effective and positive working relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Assists with a variety of projects as delegated or as appropriate to the position.

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree with clinical specialization appropriate to their area of teaching responsibility.

  • Master's degree in any given field with preference in healthcare, management or business area or willing to obtain master's degree upon an agreed period of time.

  • Faculty teaching in a non-clinical course (e.g. issues and trends, research, management, pharmacology, pathophysiology). Have advanced preparation appropriate to their area of responsibility.

  • Holds an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification or equivalent and registration in pertinent discipline.

  • Holds a Radiographer license in the State of Wisconsin.

  • In addition, the College has identified the need for competency in applying principles of learning, in teaching, curriculum development, and in the clinical area of assignment. These competency requirements may be obtained through academic credit, institutes, extension courses, continuing education offerings, and experience.

Experience:

  • Has two years of full-time experience in the professional

  • Has one year experience as an instructor in an approved Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) accredited program.

  • Must maintain current/active practice.

  • Must be actively engaged in local, state and/or national professional organizations and activities

Abilities and Characteristics:

  • Knowledge and skill in the application of the principles of teaching and learning. Knowledge in curriculum and curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Willingness to work with students to facilitate their learning.

  • Strong interpersonal skills which include the use of group process and counseling/guidance principles

  • Computer competency in word processing, file management, and email

  • Effective leadership skills which encompasses organizational skills, flexibility, and problem-solving skills
