Position Responsibilities:
We are seeking an adjunct instructor interested in co-teaching with faculty in an interactive and application based course covering pediatric occupational performance. OCCT 714 is a 4-credit (2 lecture hour; 4 lab hours) course that focuses on occupational performance of children with disabilities from kindergarten age through transition into adulthood. The course explores a variety of frames of reference and evaluative and intervention approaches for children and their families in multiple practice arenas. The course emphasizes a holistic approach to develop the child's occupational performance in school, activities of daily living, play, work, and community while meeting expectations of family and environment. This is a fully immersive in-person course taught on Tuesdays in our College of Health Professions building, with course content being delivered weekly. Primary responsibilities include assisting with labs, with the option of assisting with some lectures. use of Canvas as the course learning management system, and grading of assignments.
Required Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral occupational therapy degree.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an occupational therapist in Virginia.
Practice and teaching experience in occupational therapy evaluation and intervention in pediatric settings.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
Occupational therapy Doctorate (OTD) or PhD.
School-based practice experience.
