Mount Aloysius College, recognized by ModernThink as a 2022 and 2023 "Great College to Work For," is searching for qualified candidates to teach coursework in our Undergraduate General Education Program on an adjunct basis during the 2024-2025 Academic Year at the undergraduate level.

Adjunct faculty at Mount Aloysius College may participate in our retirement savings plan, and are eligible for limited tuition remission benefits for themselves and their dependents. As an Adjunct faculty member, you also receive complimentary access to our wellness center/gym, are eligible for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and have access to various employee discounts.

Adjunct Faculty are needed with experience in teaching mathematics and are capable of explaining process and procedure in this context. Adjunct Faculty are needed to instruct the following course:

MATH 111: The Three C's: Calculate, Compute, and Critique

Did I get the best deal on that new car? Which is more likely - winning the Mega Millions lottery or being hit by the Megabus?

What is the real cost of the spring break trip I just charged to my credit card? The Three Cs: Calculate, Compute, and Critique will provide students with the necessary tools to use mathematical solutions in everyday decisions. Students will never wonder if they will use what they are learning because this course will engage students in relevant and useful mathematics they can apply to their daily lives.

This course is scheduled to be taught in person at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson. For the fall 2024 semester, daytime and evening teaching opportunities exist.

Sections may be offered twice a week or three times a week, depending on need. Online teaching opportunities may be available for this course in the future.

Faculty are expected to create an interactive, student-centered learning environment in the classroom. Some basic course materials should be made available to students using the Canvas Learning Management System.

Qualifications

Applicants must have the ability to utilize various teaching methods and effectively incorporate technology into the teaching/learning process. Master's degree in business, finance, or education is required with a Bachelor's degree in statistics, data analysis, computer science, or another math-related field.

Minimum three (3) to five (5) years' teaching experience at the collegiate level required. An equivalent combination of applicable teaching experience and education will be considered. Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written, are required. Experience using Canvas Learning Management System, or similar LMS preferred.

Adjunct appointments are single-semester opportunities only, with no guarantee of future appointments.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time; all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of their application.
