SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Professor of Art, Studio or Chairperson

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: N/A

POSITION SUMMARY: The Art Department at Moravian University invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Art History to begin in the Fall of 2024.

Adjunct Faculty member(s) are responsible for teaching one or more undergraduate courses in Art History. Courses will be taught on campus in Bethlehem, PA

The Art Department acknowledges that the art history field has emerged from colonial and Eurocentric systems of knowledge and is working actively to grapple with that legacy through our research, pedagogy, and programming. We invite applications from colleagues who share that goal in their scholarship, teaching, and professional activities. We are particularly interested in candidates whose scholarship embraces transregional and interdisciplinary approaches and whose pedagogy promotes student engagement and supports a vibrant BA program.

Art History courses at Moravian are required for art majors, minors, and students in other arts majors. Additionally, art history courses are part of the general education curriculum for all students at Moravian.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) track in Art History introduces students to the history and appreciation of the visual arts. It provides an in-depth understanding of the history of art, architecture, and visual culture - their production, circulation, and reception - while teaching students to interrogate visuality more broadly to develop skills in visual analysis, critical thinking, research, and writing.
