Adjunct, Computer-Integrated Machining (Cnc)

This position is responsible for delivering CNC instruction to Computer-Integrated Machining students using CNC lathes and mills, with Fanuc and Haas controllers.

The candidate will maintain the CNC machining lab, classroom, computer lab spaces, material and tooling.

The position is Monday - Thursday, 8:00am to 2:00pm.

Minimum Qualifications

You must possess the following:

• High School Diploma

• 3 years of relevant industry experience as a machinist

• 3 years of experience with setup & operation of CNC mills and lathes

• Experience with manual mills and lathes

• 2 years' experience with CNC programming on mills and lathes

• 2 years' experience with Mastercam or equivalent CAM software

Preferred Qualifications

We would prefer you also possess:

• Associate degree in machining or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

• Teaching and/or industry training experience

• Greater than 3 years of relevant industry experience as a machinist

• Experience with multi-axis on both lathes and mills

• Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems

Essential Duties

Under the leadership and approval of the Dean and Vice President the following Essential Duties and Responsibilities will be assigned (other duties may be assigned):

Required Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Computer-Integrated Machining or closely related field of study or five (5) years manual machining experience. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.

• Experience with conventional engine lathes, mills, and surface grinders.

• Minimum two (2) years' experience in manual machining

• Post-secondary manual machining teaching experience

• Understand and be committed to the unique nature and role of the College.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in Machining Calculations (algebra and trigonometry)

• Proficient in Blueprint reading, including GD&T

• Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical equipment

• Experience with creation and assessment of student learning outcomes.

• Experience with distance learning platforms and/or alternate instructional delivery systems

Teaching and Learning

• Assume responsibility for teaching assignments as recommended by the Department Chair and approved by the Dean.

• Facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing inclusive instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful and that maximize equitable student outcomes.

• Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content includes program, state, and SACSCOC-approved competencies.

• Assume responsibility for accurately maintaining all required college records, including attendance and grade reports.

• Compile resources of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.

• Assess student learning using appropriate modalities.

• Appropriately utilize learning management system tools as required by the college and/or department.

• Maintain, review, and update course descriptions, objectives, and syllabi for courses of instruction.

• Incorporate inclusive content and work to eliminate discriminatory and exclusionary content from curriculum.

• Intentionally design learning experiences that extend beyond facilitating classroom instruction and assist students in achieving course, program, and degree outcomes.

• Make recommendations to the Department Chair for selection of supplies, equipment, equipment repairs, textbooks for courses of study, and the scheduling of classroom and laboratory facilities.
