Adjunct Professor - CNA - Clinical Instructor

Independence Community College is seeking an adjunct instructor with CNA Instructor credentials for the Allied Health department beginning Fall 2024. The successful candidate will be a team-oriented professional teaching the clinical portion of the six-credit hour CNA course.

Position Summary

This is an adjunct professor paid $675 per credit hour taught.

This position reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Qualifications

• CNA Instructor License

• Ability to instruct students effectively with sensitivity to diverse populations, learning styles and developmental needs.

• Community college teaching and experience and alternative course delivery systems preferred.

• Ability to communicate fluently by both verbal and written means with other program faculty/staff, students, and long-term care facility staff.

General Responsibilities

• Timely completion of reports and communications including clinical visits, student attendance, student performance standards, safety issues, outcomes assessment, grades, governmental and any other necessary reporting;

• Work with Allied Health Director to set clinical instruction time;

• Collaborative, professional, and responsible work behavior;

• High degree of ethical standards, including confidentiality;

• Ensuring college assets (equipment, tools, medications, etc.) are safe and secure;

• Ensuring students have a safe learning environment;

• Ability to work collegially with employees, students, and the public;

• Always serve as an effective ambassador for the college and the program;

• Working within professional networks and organizations beyond the institution;

• Participating in the departmental process of curriculum review, curriculum modification, and the assessment of student learning outcomes;

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of a clinical instructor. • Position generally requires light work with occasional lifting of up to (50) pounds or more, carrying supplies, equipment, and restraining patients. The job requires varying amounts of sitting, standing, climbing and walking.

• This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

• The ability to clearly communicate verbally with an excellent comprehension of the English language is essential.
