The Adjunct Clinic Doctor assist intern teams that are led by assigned Clinic Faculty Doctors by approving and overseeing certain aspects of patient care, organizing intern learning activities or grading and providing feedback for intern projects and assignments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Course/Pod Management: Adjunct doctors are responsible for assisting in managing clinic courses in accordance with the guidance provided to them by their direct supervisor. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Adhere to a syllabus in Parker's required format.

  • Follow Parker policies and procedures in all elements of course management.

  • Have thorough knowledge of Parker quality patient care including the use of chiropractic adjusting, neuromuscular therapeutic exercise and activity, diagnostic imaging and body chemistry testing, nutrition and supplementation, and advising patients on therapeutic lifestyle change and management.

  • Maintain patient documentation consistent with the University's standards defined by in-service presentations, training, and audit review and remediation.

  • Follow Medicare diagnostic organization and documentation standards on patients covered by Medicare.

  • Maintain set performance statistics and goals.

  • Comply with Clinic policies and procedures and maintain a Texas Chiropractic license as regulated by the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners

  • Report known safety violations to the Dean of Clinics or Clinic Director of respective clinic.

  • Occasionally attend and accept responsibility of information distributed via clinic doctors' meetings, training sessions, and other required meetings.

Student/Patient Interaction: Adjunct doctors generally have more direct contact with students than any other institutional employee and are responsible for managing that contact consistent with the highest ethical and professional standards.

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and patients.

  • Respond timely to student e-mails and voicemails.

  • Identify to Clinic Faculty Doctors the need for additional instruction to interns found deficient in any aspect of patient care.

  • Report severely deficient interns to Clinic Faculty Doctors and Clinic Administration.

  • Assist Clinic Faculty Doctors in preparation for educational activities and intern team meetings.

  • Assist the Director of Clinical Assessment and/or Clinic Faculty Doctor with intern remediation or educational activities.

  • Accurately assess intern project and/or assignment.

  • Provide quality formative feedback to students.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERTISE:

  • Doctor of Chiropractic degree and TX license is required (applicant must either be licensed in TX or eligible to obtain a TX license within the first teaching term, which is a condition of hiring).
  • A minimum of three-years practice experience is preferred or a Parker University College of Chiropractic graduate with an exceptional record as a chiropractic intern.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/ETC.:

  • Good public relation skills

  • Inclusion in Parker directed network health plans.

  • Allowing Parker University to access the NPPES database for licensing verifications and updated information for billing purposes.

  • Willingness to function as a team member in a large clinic environment and in the educational processes within the clinic.

  • Flexible in accepting a varied work schedule (daytime, evening, and Saturday hours).

  • Perform duties as assigned by the Dean of Clinics or Clinic Director of the respective clinic.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be dexterous and ambulatory and have the ability to perform the routine duties of a chiropractor consistent with service necessary for up to one hundred (100) patients per day.

  • Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp

  • Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; ability to stand and walk.

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to thirty-five (35) exerting up to thirty-five (35) pounds of force.
