Emerson is currently seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to work in our state-of-the-art facility in Marshalltown, IA.  The individual selected for this position will be responsible for Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) technology capabilities, efficiency, and quality. This role will also involve facilitating global alignment between R&D and Production.

This position offers hybrid work arrangement, consisting of a combination of remote and onsite work.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Develop and maintain:

  • Processes and procedures related to machine calibrations. This would include facilitating laser caustics, scan field alignment, and laser power.

  • Calibrations for print simulation software ensuring all materials, and parameter variables have accurate results related to stress, deformation, and print failure.

  • Tools to support the broad organization such as build time calculations, Additive feasibility AI, and design guides and rules for parametric modeling.

  • Lead quality and metrology processes and procedures. This will involve collaboration with design team members on component inspection plans and quality expectations.

  • Create and maintain global standards for calibration, operation, and machine settings between R&D and Production to ensure global alignment and repeatability.

  • Collaborate with opportunities for component print efficiency. This would encompass processing parameter, design optimization, and layer thickness schemes.

  • Back-up machine technician with machine loading/ unloading, and post processing activities such as heat-treatment, bandsaw, support removal, and media blasting.

  • Engage with external committees for Additive Manufacturing Adaption.

  • Constant review for Additive Technology breakthroughs within the broad industry to ensure that the program is current on capabilities.

For this Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Additive Manufacturing experience with Laser Powder Bed systems
  • 2-5 years of experience
