Overview

Summary: This is an inside desk adjuster role for the Claims Department who will be tasked with managing loss of use and additional living expense claims from first notice through final settlement. The role works closely with our large loss operation to ensure the repair duration is closely monitored and customers are returned to their home. The ideal candidate will be a licensed insurance adjuster with experience handling first party property claims including claims for loss of use and ALE.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interprets and applies policy coverage to loss.

  • Communicates policy coverage and benefits to customers.

  • Investigates loss of use and additional living expense claims.

  • Coordinate with vendors and other service providers.

  • Reports findings of investigation, coverage interpretation and cost estimates to company.

  • Negotiates with insured, contractors, and vendors; may have limited interaction with public adjusters and attorneys under close supervision.

  • Complies with timeliness, accuracy and service standards of the company.

  • Complies with the legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains appropriate adjusters license and complies with continuing education requirements.

  • Identifies any questionable or potentially fraudulent activity.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred. Consideration will be given for an Associate's degree, industry recognized designations (e.g. CPCU, SCLA, AIC), or a combination of education and equivalent experience.

  • 1 year of claim handling experience

  • Florida DFS all lines adjuster license or ability to obtain

  • Computer experience in Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience working with office machinery: calculators, photocopiers, printers and scanners.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently expected to perform duties at a desk in an office environment. This involves sitting/standing at a desk and performing functions on a computer.
