Adaptive Physical Education Teacher

Adapted Physical Education (APE) teacher will provide group adapted physical education to all students and his/her responsibilities will include planning and leading APE lessons, getting students to participate in lessons and sporting activities/events, and providing feedback/progress updates on students’ performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required
• Professional experiences as an instructor and/or trainer in physical/fitness training/education
• Understanding of the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or other developmental disabilities and their families
• Knowledge of NYS Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for physical education
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Computer proficiency (e.g., database, word processing, etc.)
