Boeing's Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) organization in Huntsville, AL is looking to fill multiple software engineering positions in the organization including entry level software engineer(s) capable of contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification). ADaPS (an organization of over 100 engineers spanning software, systems, and mechanical domains) supports programs across the entire portfolio of Boeing products including Space Launch Systems (SLS), Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Commercial Space Crew Transportation System (CCTS), B-52 and B-1 Bomber modernization, the Navy's autonomous refueling MQ-25 vehicle, Advanced Missile Defense efforts including the Multiple Object Kill Vehicle and hypervelocity missile defense (HYVINT), and commercial cargo aircraft automation projects. ADaPS specializes in executing rapid prototyping and development programs utilizing small, responsive Agile teams. Position Responsibilities:

ADaPS is looking to fill multiple software engineering positions. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification). The successful candidate(s) will work in small Agile teams composed of diverse engineering skills and will be expected to use their talents to tackle complex problems on a variety of programs. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for developing technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings in support of program requirements.

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Ada, C#, Python, MATLAB

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas:

  • Understanding of system design phases including Concept of Operations development, requirements development, hardware/software integration, implementation, trade studies, and system verification & validation.

  • Structured requirements definition and management (DOORs or similar)

  • Software test experience including test planning, software unit testing, formal requirements verification, and system validation

  • Experience using common software version control tools such as Subversion or Git

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Provide modeling and simulation development supporting Hardware-in-the-Loop testing of next generation space-based sensor technology. The HWIL simulation will support multiple industry satellite concepts and simulate them for performance assessment. Duties & Responsibilities * Develop high-fidelity models of satellite concepts and simulate them for performance assessment * Integrate subsystem-level components into an existing high-fidelity simulation to perform benchmarking and analysis * Conduct model/module tests, evaluate the test results, perform data analysis, and present results/analysis * Develop dynamic interfaces to maintain communication between modules in high-fidelity simulations * Develop generic analysis software to visualize and/or playback simulations using various programming and scripting languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.) * Create technical briefings and/or documentation to present to company management as well as government customers. * Participate in peer reviews and technical meetings Skills * B.S., M.S., or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline * Experience in the development of physics based simulations * An understanding (experience and/or coursework) of coordinate frames, equations of motion, space system flight dynamics, aerodynamics, and propulsion. * Experience with Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithm development in a closed-loop simulation * Programming in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and Python, in a Linux and/or Windows based development environment * Experience with basic software design, configuration management, implementation, test, and verification ensuring the software meets the requirements * Experience with software development version-control tools, primarily Git * Enjoy working as a member of a team and assisting with solving complex problems. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, and Excel). * This position requires that the candidate possess an active security clearance in order to access classified information.
