Job Description:

Business Analytics & Insights (BAI) delivers data-driven insights that enable our clients to make improved decisions. Our dynamic and expanding team is comprised of subject-matter experts from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including market research, data analytics, and consulting. As a team, we leverage our passion for analytics and our ability to turn data into meaningful insights to guide business strategy across UCB. The Associate Director for Forecasting is a key business partner who will provide analytics to support our partners in Market Access and Neurology/Immunology commercial organization. He/she is responsible for development of rigorous analytics-based market insights and business intelligence to inform optimal strategic brand and portfolio decision-making, ensure successful marketing execution, and measure performance.

The Associate Director for Forecasting will lead the Strategic and Operational forecasting initiatives for our US commercial business (iPvu and nPVU).Will ensure appropriate data is utilized in forecast modelling, oversee and execute forecast models, and work with US colleagues to assist in generation of appropriate forecast metrics and reporting. This role will also be responsible for leading/performing ad hoc analytics in support of forecasting insights. The person in this role will collaborate with US Leadership, Finance Business Partners, Market Access and Pricing and Supply Chain to ensure robust and insightful forecast deliverables.

Ability to work closely with senior management and clients, providing business insights, challenging their thinking, and managing their expectations. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Highly proficient with analytical tools such as Excel, PPT and MS Office. Strong knowledge of time series analysis and statistical methodology. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to perform complex data analysis. Ability to synthesize unrelated research findings into coherent, actionable recommendations Ability to facilitate alignment across senior leaders on analytical approach and scenario definition. Ability to achieve results through people, and collaborate effectively across levels and functions.

  • Responsible for becoming knowledgeable on opportunities and challenges related to the Neurology/Immunology Business Unit

  • The US Forecasting Associate Director has involvement in the sales and marketing strategic planning process

  • Provide and Lead Strategic and Operational Forecasting within defined Therapeutic areas for all US Markets

  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of assigned Therapeutic areas, inclusive of Patient populations, Competitive Landscape, the Patient Journey and Treatment algorithms.

  • Expertise in key Forecasting methodologies inclusive of Time-Series analysis, TRx-based modelling, Patient-based modelling, selection and application of Analogs and incorporation of primary market research approaches.

  • Develop analytic assessments of key environmental factors that will impact revenue streams; such as changes to government policy, changes to the Healthcare ecosystem, and advances in Technology

  • Assess impacts of key internal efforts on revenues streams, inclusive of changes in promotional support efforts, changes in Reimbursement/Access, New indications and New Formulations

  • Manage scenario planning

  • Ability to understand complex financial models and interpret financial analyses

  • Ability to be diplomatic in discussions with both internal and external customers, as well as an ability to be persuasive to achieve desired results

  • Manages and provides direction to the Business Analysts

  • Collaborate with the business units to develop reports efficiently and effectively to meet information needs of sales, marketing, and operations management

  • Analyze data to provide actionable business relevant insights

  • Support ongoing governance processes related to reporting and information

  • Works cross-functionally to manage the data needs of the Business Unit and evaluates data assets on the basis of business needs

  • This role involves a large educational component. Strong Written/Oral Communication and Presentation skills are required.


  • Strong strategic, conceptual and analytical thinking combined with the ability to lead and build relationships with key stakeholders to quickly understand business strategies, identify analytics needs and build effective solutions.

  • Lead rigorous, analytics-based decision support to the commercial team, including primary market research, data analytics, forecasting and insight generation

  • Excellent understanding of financial requirements of a pharmaceutical business

  • Comprehensive understanding of forecasting techniques and challenges, including both theory and practical experience implementing dynamic forecasts

  • Monitor in-line portfolio performance and generate insights to drive continuous improvement of marketing strategy

  • 8+ years' experience working in an advanced analyst role preferred

  • 5+ Years of demonstrated success in analysis and modelling

  • Demonstrated experience in analysis and presentation of data to senior levels of an organization

  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and being known to articulate complex concepts in clear, brief and easy to understand manner.

  • High Proficiency in MS Office tools to include: Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

  • Background in working with Pharmaceutical prescription data, related information delivery, and data standards experience

  • Can clearly articulate the procurement and nuances of Specialty Pharmacy data

  • Background in data investigations within a pharmaceutical data environment

  • Experience working with longitudinal patient level data for treatment and patient flow analysis

  • Expertise in using managed care data such a MMIT and fingertip formulary data

  • Experience in statistical techniques such as linear regression, logistic regression, decision tree, machine learning methods and time series forecasting techniques such as ARIMA, exponential smoothing

  • Experience in using and developing methodologies such as test-control observational experimental techniques for strategic resource allocation.

  • Experience with data warehouse/business intelligence solutions development and experience

  • Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills with all levels internally and externally including technical and non-technical delivery and including communicating progress, status and risk information

  • Ability to identify priorities, deadlines, and expectations on multiple tasks and execute tasks accordingly with a high degree of quality while managing to tight deadlines and changing business needs

  • High level of detail orientation, organization, flexibility, teamwork, and relationship building skills

  • Ability to routinely demonstrate strong quantitative, data analysis, analytical and complex problem solving skills without supervision including experience on how to distill large amounts of data in to actionable management information

  • High degree of leadership and people skills with a high level of integrity, positive attitude, commitment and work ethic

  • Strong learning agility and self-motivated individual seeking opportunities in a dynamic, team-based work environment that focuses on the customer

  • Ability to travel ~ 15%

  • Bachelor's degree required; MA/MS/MBA or other advanced degree preferred
