Acute Nurse Practitioner Program Director & Asst. Professor

The Department of Nursing in the College of Education and Health Sciences invites applications for a dynamic and experienced Academic Program Director to complete development and lead the Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner degree program. This online program will join several successful graduate programs in nursing, counseling, and physical therapy housed within the College of Education and Health Sciences.

Candidates must possess a minimum of a terminal degree with a major in Nursing. Applicants must be eligible for RN and APN licensure in Illinois with the ability to obtain other applicable state licenses for compliance with out-of-state distance education regulations.

An Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner-Acute national certification is required in addition to one year's clinical experience as an Adult Gerontology-Acute Nurse Practitioner and must be currently practicing as an Adult Gerontology Acute Nurse Practitioner. Successful candidates must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and show potential for a productive scholarship program.

Online teaching experience at the graduate level is strongly preferred. We seek a strong and innovative leader who will assemble a team of high-quality educators and lead a strong curriculum. The faculty member will participate in curriculum development; strategic planning and partnerships; collaboration and innovation for interprofessional education; ongoing maintenance of accreditation; and the recruitment for and promotion of the program.

This 12-month, part-time position may include teaching in areas of clinical expertise and program need, and scholarship/professional development, as appropriate. The faculty member will report to the Chairperson of the Department of Nursing and will hold the appropriate academic rank at the level of assistant professor in residence.

The start date for the position is immediately or upon hire.

This program director position will include: online graduate nursing teaching responsibilities, academic advising, course development/revisions in an online environment, and participation and leadership in department committees. This position begins upon hire and is a part-time, 12-month appointment. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
