The Pulmonary and Medical Critical Care Service at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, a top 10 hospital in the United States, located in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to add to its award-winning and nationally recognized Medical Intensive Care Unit staff ( Over 1000 critically ill patients were admitted to the Penn Presbyterian MICU last year and has one of the highest acuity levels in the nation.

We provide ICU management for medically critically ill residents of West Philadelphia and serve as a resource for outside hospital referrals for the region, including providing care for Penn Lung Rescue (ECMO) patients.

To be successful, we need uniquely qualified leaders in Advanced Practice with the skill, experience, expertise and passion to fill these new and exciting roles in the expanded medical Critical Care Program at Penn Medicine. These ACNPs or PAs will be working with board certified intensivists, on multi-disciplinary ICU teams providing front line patient- and family-centered care for critically ill patients.
The Advanced Practitioners (APs) in the Medical Intensive Care Unit will function in collaboration with intensivists, nurses, Pharm-Ds and other health care professionals to diagnose, treat, and manage complex critical illness. These APs will also perform procedures as outlined in the privileging agreements (central lines, arterial lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis and Lumbar puncture).

VIEW JOBS 10/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-08T00:00 The Surgical Critical Care Service has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Advanced Practice team in their very busy practice in the Penn Health Systems three downtown hospitals to include HUP, PPMC, and PAH. Distinct functions of the position include: patient management, clinical decision making, bedside procedures (including central lines, dialysis catheters, arterial lines, bronchoscopy and bedside fluoroscopy), and teaching of patients, family and staff. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role also involves participation in the Division’s Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and Unit-Based Clinical Leadership (UBCL). Opportunities for professional growth and development are available through research, lecturing, publications and involvement in department and hospital projects and committees. All nurse practitioners and physician Assistants function under the guidelines designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP or PA hired will be held accountable through a formal job description, the delineation of privileges, and their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. The Advanced Practitioner, while providing quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the care team, performs histories, physicals, and procedures according to credentialing, and provide care and patient/family teaching following the nursing process. Also participates in research as appropriate, ensures regulatory compliance, documents care according to standards, and prescribes in accordance with the collaborative agreement and State regulations.
