Recro Pharma is looking for exceptional candidates to fulfill the role of an Acute Care Business Manager for a fast-paced, startup opportunity for their first product commercialization. This is the chance to join a company working to provide non-opioid pain medications that may be appropriate for millions of surgical procedures requiring post-operative pain medication.

Our Company:

Recro Pharma, Inc. is a revenue generating specialty pharmaceutical company developing non-opioid therapeutics for the treatment of pain, initially for acute post-operative pain.

Recro Pharma has two product candidates in mid to late stage clinical trials for the management of acute post-operative pain. Recro has completed multiple Phase II & Phase III clinical trials for IV meloxicam, a proprietary, long-acting preferential COX-2 inhibitor, in patients with post-surgical pain. . We believe IV meloxicam compares favorably to competitive therapies in magnitude of pain relief, onset of pain relief, duration of pain relief and time to peak analgesic effect.

Dex-IN, a proprietary intranasal formulation of Dexmedetomidine, is currently being tested in Phase II clinical trials. Dexmedetomidine, or Dex, is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic agonist that has demonstrated sedative, analgesic and anxiolytic properties. If approved, Dex-IN would also be the first and only approved acute post-operative pain drug in its class of drugs.

Recro Pharma owns and operates an 87,000 square foot, DEA-licensed facility that manufactures five commercial products that are commercialized by partners, and receives royalties associated with the sales of these products.

The Position:

The Acute Care Business Manager (ABM) will be responsible for achieving and maximizing territory and account sales goals through account management, high-level clinical proficiency and effective selling. The ABM will be the primary point of contact for Recro with key hospital influencers and decision makers across key functional areas including but not limited to surgeons, anesthesiologists, pharmacists and formulary committee members.

Education & Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years pharmaceutical, surgery, biotech or related sales experience

  • Minimum of 3 years hospital sales experience

  • Undergraduate degree

  • Demonstrated track record of sales success and leadership

  • Ability to comprehend and utilize technical information

Preferred:

  • Solid understanding of Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)/Hospital Marketplace

  • Active and current relationships with target audience and KOLs within local geography

  • Product Launch experience

  • Strongly preferred that candidates reside within territory

  • Scientific degree preferred

  • Surgical and/or acute care analgesia and/or anesthesia sales experience preferred

  • In depth knowledge of buy & bill system

  • Knowledge of Navigating Market Access

Your Responsibilities: The Access & Reimbursement Manager (ARM) proactively provides education and support on retina products access programs for retina physicians and their staff. They serve as the key contact responsible for reimbursement and access support-related matters for retina products in the assigned geography. The ARM will educate and support the integration of retina products into retina offices as well as provide support on reimbursement related processes and issues, as needed. Additionally, the ARM will analyze reimbursement and access issues and act as the local access and reimbursement resource for other field sales force personnel and region management. The ARM will need to coordinate cross functionally within Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation (NPC) i.e. Field Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Public Affairs, State & Government Affairs, Trade, Specialty Pharmacy Account Management and applicable third party affiliates. Access Program Support * To support patient access to retina products, proactively provide education and support on programs to support integration of retina products into office processes and workflows. * Address customer questions for issues related to NPC policies on retina products ordering, payment, inventorying, and product returns & replacement in retina offices. * Work with key members of retina offices (i.e. retina specialists, billing staff, reimbursement staff) in order to appropriately support patient access to retina products. * Collaborate with field sales and marketing teams appropriately to share insights into customer needs and barriers for retina products access. Reimbursement Support * Analyze reimbursement issues & opportunities, anticipating changes in the healthcare landscape, and act as the retina products reimbursement expert for retina offices and local field teams. * Has visibility to patient Personal Health Information (PHI), with appropriate patient consent, to understand specifics and support questions associated with appropriate patient reimbursement. * Provide reimbursement training to local field teams, as needed. * Coordinate on reimbursement issues with third party payers at the HCP level. * Execute NVS approved strategies to support appropriate coverage and payment. * Work with HUB and benefit investigators to ensure accurate coverage determinations. * Provide information about retina products coverage, coding and payment, as appropriate, both internally and externally. * Increase product reimbursement awareness at meetings with health care providers including retina specialists and billing/office/reimbursement managers. Fiscal Responsibility and Compliance * Control business expenses related to field activities (i.e. travel, customer meetings) provide timely expense reports to manager. * Maintain a deep understanding of NPC policies and requirements and perform all responsibilities in a manner consistent with company guidance. * Handle PHI appropriately.
