AXA XL Re North America writes reinsurance for a variety of property and casualty lines in the US and Canada. Currently, the pricing group is looking for a fast learner who will support the Casualty team while pursuing the ACAS designation. The Casualty team performs treaty account pricing and line of business research for both standard and professional casualty lines including General Liability, Umbrella, Commercial and Personal Auto, D&O, E&O, Medical Malpractice, Environmental, and Workers Comp. You will have the opportunity to work within a team of pricing actuaries while collaborating with underwriters, cat modelers, claim experts and reserving actuaries.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
Evaluate historical and prospective profitability of casualty reinsurance treaties. This requires a combination of experience and exposure pricing techniques.
Become a line of business expert for Workers Comp. You will coordinate the annual parameter updates and regularly review available resources, pricing approaches and profitability views of the line. We write both proportional and non-proportional structures, per person and per occurrence.
Present pricing results to underwriters and for larger accounts, to AXA XL Re North America senior management.
Actively participate in the development and enhancement of our pricing models.
Interact with external parties such as insurance companies, brokers, and statistical agencies to gather market intelligence and data.
You will report to Senior Actuary, Reinsurance Pricing.
We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Bachelor's Degree or better in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
CAS exam progress: recent ACAS or near-ACAS with at least 4 exams.
Minimum 3 years commercial insurance or reinsurance pricing experience preferred, with a commitment to exam progress.
Advanced knowledge of Excel/VBA required. Basic understanding of R preferred.
Pricing knowledge: thorough understanding of experience and exposure rating analysis preferred.
Ability to multi-task and progress on several assignments at once, balancing short-term time pressures against long-term goals.
Attention to detail and organizational skills a must.
