The Actuary, Global Projects contributes to the development of enhanced short-term and long-term projection capabilities for the consolidated RGA enterprise. Develops and maintains systems and processes related to embedded value, economic capital, financial planning and budgeting, capital planning, tax planning, and asset/liability management. Interacts with other RGA departments and offices to ensure that department work products are portrayed correctly, understood, and completed in a timely fashion.
Works to enhance the Company's projection and planning infrastructure.
Provides technical expertise with respect to embedded value, economic capital, and principle-based reserving.
Provides technical expertise with respect to relational databases and actuarial software.
Provides assistance to the business segments with respect to validating and managing their projection data.
Participates in the development and enhancement of underlying processes and recommends improvements.
Performs management duties including, but not limited to, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.
Works to ensure that all lines of business and company risks have been modeled in a reasonable, accurate, and repeatable manner.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field
7+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance
CFA, CERA, or other such financial risk management designation
Stochastic modeling and/or asset liability modeling experience
Experience in embedded value reporting and/or economic capital determination
Skills and Abilities
Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software
Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received

Highly advanced ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures.
Highly advanced project management skills. Demonstrates an ability to evaluate project objectives and scope for feasibility and understanding.
Highly advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
Expert knowledge of life, health, and annuity products.
Expert knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation and financial reporting.
Expertise in MoSes, TAS, VIPiTech and/or AXIS
Understanding of asset and liability modeling techniques
Ability to program in visual basic or equivalent
