We are looking for candidates interested in developing their actuarial careers! Our actuarial summer internship program provides the opportunity to become familiar with company operations, business objectives and actuarial methodologies, all while building your network of business professionals.

As a summer intern at Zurich, you will work directly with experienced actuaries to gain hands on, real world application of actuarial principles. You will have the support, guidance and supervision of a mentor. Assignments may include assisting with pricing studies, profitability reviews, calculating premiums or reserves for new or existing products, performing research and other statistical analyses in support of Zurich's business strategies. As a wrap up to your internship experience, you will have the opportunity to showcase one of your key projects by presenting an overview of one of your key projects to your peers, leaders and other members of the actuarial community.

This position will be located in our corporate headquarter office in Schaumburg, IL.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Math or other related field

  • Two or more years of college coursework (should be a rising Junior or Senior)

  • Microsoft Office experience

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.2

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of 1 or more actuarial exams

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

You will be part of a small (1-6 person), multi-disciplinary team that has full responsibility for product development from requirements gathering to final product delivery. You may be involved in all areas of development (i.e. requirements analysis, high and low level design, coding, documentation, and testing and validation). Our products are developed to very high standards of quality and reliability and you will have the opportunity to learn the department's software process during all development activities. * Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related engineering degree * Candidate graduation date must occur between December 2019 and June 2020 * Candidate must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract. (See note below) * Candidates with an active security clearance are encouraged to apply. * You should be skilled in Java, C, C++, or Dalvik.
