JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analyses to assist in the development of complex actuarial formulations leading to recommendations.

Provides consultation and clarification on actuarial models and risk issues. Maintains documentation of actuarial analysis, and may assist in preparing the actuarial portion of financial reports and tax returns, and responses to insurance regulators. Employee is adept with various actuarial techniques and procedures and performing actuarial tasks which are of a mathematical and quantitative nature.

In addition, associate is capable of working independently with general supervision. Will be proficiently performing and assisting in a variety of Actuarial tasks which may include: data compilation and analysis, illustrations, model development, financial reporting and analysis, pricing, risk and reinsurance analysis, reserving/valuation and other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Reports to: Actuarial Manager, or other actuarial management.


  • Compiles, categorizes & analyzes data.

  • Leads in Illustrating/reproposals for products and testing illustration software.

  • Builds, maintains and runs Actuarial, Projection & Valuation Models.

  • Performs financial reporting & analysis.

  • Performs pricing of products.

  • Performs the analysis of risks for lines of business.

  • Establishes reserves, statutory, GAAP, and tax valuation for products.

  • Analyzes reinsurance opportunities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education: Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar background requiring modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis.


Experience: At least four years of Actuarial experience and Actuarial Council approval.

Knowledge of actuarial business functions, statistical methods of analysis, company actuarial systems and databases, and their integration; technical facility with leading computer tools and technology. Knowledgeable of company operations, products, systems, and actuarial methodologies.

Skills/Competencies: Proficient in Microsoft Office products (including VBA within Access and Excel), programming languages and Actuarial models.

Basic level of command skills, strategic agility, delegation, motivating others, perpective, business perspective, and accounting. Proficient level of perspective, dealing with ambiguity, customer focus, drive for results, learning on the fly, and analysis. Mastery level of problem solving and leveraging system capabilities.

This position assists senior consultants with project management, day to day client contact and review of Actuarial Analyst's work. To fulfill this role, the DB Actuarial Consultant will: * Perform necessary calculations or analysis on special retirement projects analyzing their impact on all of a client's retirement plans, including assumption studies, plan design studies, plan terminations, early retirement window studies, post-retirement medical and acquisition studies. * Review analyst and junior consultant analysis and client work; acts as final technical review for client projects. b * Assist Senior Consultants with day to day client contact and problem resolution * Works with Wealth Analytical Service Centers in the following ways: checking and analyzing actuarial valuation results, including analysis of census data, liabilities, assets and reporting, coordinating local office resources and project management * Contribute in client meetings and presentations. * Communicate with clients through participation in client meetings, and presentations. May also act as day to day contact for some clients and be responsible for ensuring problem resolution. * Create project work plans and monitor timelines and budgets.
