The Actuarial Assistant will help calculate and report life and health reserves on a US Statutory/US GAAP/ basis. Populate quarterly and annual exhibits, including management reports and the actuarial exhibits in the NAIC blue book.
Assist with calculating reserve liabilities. Gain experience with modeling and verifying actuarial software output. Use Microsoft Excel and Access to relay results to management, auditors, and regulators. Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed. Study and make progress toward attaining SOA credentials.
Actively pursuing Actuarial designation and has made progress towards the ASA designation
2 years of experience in the Life and Health Insurance Industry
Capability with Microsoft Excel/Access/Word
Exposure to SQL Server and actuarial software a plus
Practical knowledge of life insurance / A&H liabilities and the income statement / balance sheet
Communication candidate must professionally interact with peers and supervisors on a verbal and written basis
Reliability candidate must understand and handle deadlines appropriately
Observant candidate should recognize and communicate when calculated results are neither reasonable nor consistent with prior periods
Relational candidate can determine the expected financial impact due to changes in actuarial model inputs, and if the magnitude and direction of impacts are sensible
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other related degrees
