River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders, River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14 acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented MUSIC THERAPIST. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provides activities and service for all patient population within the assigned groups and area of specific expertise.

  • Assesses patient's leisure, social, and recreational abilities, deficiencies, interests, barriers, life experiences, needs, and potential;

  • Provides in-depth Music Therapy assessments of each patient where additional information is requested through analysis of the non-verbal medium;

  • Establishes relevant and attainable goals for the patient which, reflect the assessment date;

  • Plans and assesses patient's progress treatment and discharge needs through attendance at staffing updates;

  • Contributes to interdisciplinary treatment plan at initial staffing;

  • Demonstrates the knowledge, judgment, and technical skills required to employ activities for patients to develop, maintain, improve, restore, or maximize function and compensation for dysfunction;

  • Sets appropriate limits in response to undesirable physical and social behavior;

  • Takes initiative to re-evaluate the patient's status at appropriate intervals as indicated by individual needs;

  • Deals effectively with a variety of patient diagnoses and age groups;

  • Records patient's treatment goals and progress in Activity Therapy on the patient's medical record, and co-signs student intern's documentation;

  • Communicates effectively with treatment team member, patients and other hospital staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Bachelor degree in a related field; with specialized skills development; (i.e. music, etc.)

Two (2) yrs experience in hospital / psychiatric/ mental health or special developmental needs setting

Certification or registration in area of expertise required

Provide service to all populations while demonstrating the Service Excellence Standards

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Program Therapist for our New Orleans Institute for Trauma/ Compulsivity Therapy Program. The selected individual will coordinate, implement and deliver all therapeutic services related to the program, develops and presents lectures on related topics while representing River Oaks Hospital. Will provide clinical expertise according to patient needs, adhere to standards of patient quality care and work as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, within guidelines set by the Social Services Department and the unit Program Director. The selected candidate's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Provides psycho social assessments/social histories in a time frame and format as prescribed by departmental policy and procedure. * Conducts individual, family, group psychotherapy and psychoeducational modules as needed; demonstrate a high level of clinical skill to address the needs of the patient and their family. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge in the application of various therapeutic concepts, methods and interventions related to trauma and compulsive behaviors. * Assess, identify, plan and coordinate patient discharge needs from date of admission to date of discharge according to department policy and procedures. * Facilitates patient and family access to community resources during hospitalization and upon discharge. * Provides consultation to multi-disciplinary treatment team on discharge plans and resources. * Attends all treatment team meetings, staffing and treatment planning sessions. * Communicates and documents all clinical information on case management, treatment, and discharge planning in a timely manner to all members of the treatment team. * Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient and employee related information. * Provides clinical coverage on a rotating basis for weekend and holiday schedules * Attends all required in-services annually: Job Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: * Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling with specialization in mental health. * Possesses an unencumbered license; i.e., LPC, LCSW; by a certified board in Louisiana. * A minimum of two yrs. experience in individual, group, and family therapy; must have experience in trauma and compulsive behavior treatment interventions plus relapse preventions; * Ability to assess the needs and provide the required range of treatment modalities and interventions for trauma and compulsive behavior clients; * A minimum of one year experience in discharge planning, clinical case management or a similar position in a community based agency setting which provides experience in referrals for patients.
