CenterPointe Hospital is a private, 150-bed psychiatric hospital that provides life-changing care for adolescents, adults, and senior adults. Inpatient and outpatient treatment are provided for a range of mental health and substance abuse disorders.

The Activity Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of the Activity Therapy Coordinator.

PAY:

• Starting at $22.00

ACTIVITY THERAPIST ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Demonstrates responsibility for observation and application of sound judgement in patients physical and mental condition/needs.

• Observes and documents changes in patients' appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.

• Communicates changes in patients' condition to Activity Therapy Coordinator or Registered Nurse.

• Applies appropriate crisis intervention techniques as required.

• Assists patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.

• Maintains current documentation in group notes, including patients name, date of therapy, name of therapeutic group/intervention, and summary.

• Effectively plans and implements activity therapy for assigned patient caseload.

THERAPIST EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in recreational therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy, or master's in art therapy.

Experience: Related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) during new employee hospital orientation and prior to assisting with a restraining procedure. Maybe required to work overtime and flexible hours.
