Examples of Duties Performed:

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of an Activity Department in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and center guidelines.

  • Provides ongoing social activity programs designed to meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of patients in accordance with patient assessment plans.

  • Participates in patient social activities such as parties, games, and special events; conducts patient assessments and documents activity attendance records.

  • Coordinates center-sponsored outings.

  • Instructs and coordinates participation of volunteers with patients.


To be considered for this opportunity applicants must have:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent; Qualified licensed or certified Recreation Specialist or an Activities Professional who is licensed by the State of Georgia; or is eligible for certification as a Recreation Specialist or as an Activities professional; or as a minimum, two years' experience in a social or recreation program within the last five years, one year of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; or be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or have completed a training course approved by this state.

VIEW JOBS 10/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-11T00:00 Education Coordinator - Energy Efficiency Program (Statesboro) Description SUMMARY The Energy Efficiency Education Coordinator delivers Pre-K-12 energy efficiency education curriculum that supports statewide school systems and teacher associations and drives STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) educational initiatives. The individual will spend a majority of their time in the classroom providing hands-on application, working with educators, promoting web-based learning opportunities and hosting educational awareness events. The coordinator serves as the primary point of energy efficiency education related contact for the Georgia Power Region and also supports career awareness initiatives in the region and throughout the state such as Careers in Energy Week, summer camps and career fairs. The coordinator manages specific projects related to Learning Power and Workforce Development including but not limited to energy efficiency training and teacher externships. The coordinator supports, educates and increases public awareness and understanding of the need for efficient use of energy and the creation of pathways to energy related careers. JOB REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Communications, Marketing or related field preferred. * Three years work experience delivering curriculum in a classroom. * Previous experience working with external groups is a plus. * Excellent communication skills – written, oral and interpersonal to include public speaking to varied audiences. * Knowledge of local education systems, facilities and teacher associations. * Understanding of the company's operations, policies and procedures. * Organizational skills, strategic and analytical thinking skills. * Ability to motivate and influence without positional leadership. * Experience in managing multiple projects and working with multiple stakeholders simultaneously. * Ability to build internal and external relationships. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and self directed. * Must model Southern Company values of Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Total Commitment, and Superior Performance. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Deliver and enhance efficiency education programs and strategies for grades Pre-K-12 to attract students to the energy industry and to drive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education initiatives. * Identify and actively seek opportunities to grow the education initiative into local school systems and through other education partners. * Promote careers to build awareness, understanding and interest in the energy career pathway and energy efficiency in Georgia. * Identify and cultivate community contacts and develop collaborative relationships with community members organizations and educational institutions to identify opportunities for Georgia Power involvement. * Lead and manage various internal/external teams to drive program or community education efforts. * Act as single point of contact and secure strong relationships for region energy efficiency education initiative. * Work with corporate communications to drive public relations for the region energy efficiency education initiatives. * Coordinate energy efficiency education related programs and activities aligned with business unit needs. * Partner with Workforce Development to coordinate energy career pathway initiatives within the region.
