The Recreational Therapy Aide will work along side the Recreational Therapist to plan, organize, and lead the recreation therapy program, as well as direct patient care. He/she will be responsible for establishing, initiating and conducting the recreation therapy treatment program including leisure education, aerobics, creative expression, outdoor education, community reintegration and special events for patients.

Recreational Therapy Aide will be required to complete appropriate and assigned written materials, documents and forms to assist in patient documentation and communication in the department. Must be willing to treat all patients with respect and work as a team with staff/coworkers.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma/GED required.

Bachelor's Degree preferred or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CTRS preferred.

Experience: History of working in an inpatient acute care setting preferred and experience with conducting appropriate groups to a specific patient population.

Training: CPR, HWC, and verbal de-escalation training necessary and may be provided upon hire at the hospital.
