Advocate for quality Resident Care, assisting Resident in initiating & maintaining quality activity of interest, assuring timely & accurate documentation of above. Provides and initiates
appropriate interventions to maximize the residents psychological, social and ADL functioning. Assist in observing and reporting changes in resident's condition.

Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information.
Reports all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
Respects privacy of residents; including those as prescribed by HIPAA.
Responds with respect, patience, compassion, and helpfulness to residents, visitors, and staff at all times.
Maintains a respectful and pleasing tone of voice at all times.
Never raises voice in anger, frustration, or shouts to communicate with someone inside or outside building.
Conduct & Professionalism
Attendance & Tardiness: Consistently reports to work as scheduled and properly notifies supervisor when unable to do so.
Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to dress code as prescribed by supervisor and SSL standards.
Maintains an orderly work area.
Maintains positive working relationships with all employees within department and among departments. Sets aside individual differences for the sake of the residents.
Responds appropriately to constructive criticism or corrective action administered by supervisory personnel with SSL.
Responds constructively to changes and/or problems which may arise on the job to ensure that stress is dealt with effectively.
Respects the building, grounds, and equipment of SSL and personal property of residents and visitors.
Safety & Sanitation
Remains alert at all times, assuring that SSL and its residents are safe and secure at all times.
Actively participates in the SSL Safety Program by direct service on the Safety Committee, or by observing and reporting unsafe conditions to supervisor and by performing all assigned duties with proper body mechanics.
Attends In-Service sessions as required by organization and supervisor.
Remains task oriented while on the job, with no allowance for horseplay or otherwise distracting oneself or others from the important task(s) of caring for residents.
Primary Job Duties
To facilitate the Resident Admissions procedures & Initial Assessment process. Welcomes new admissions, provides orientation, information on Resident Council, calendar, upcoming events.
Provides comments related to participation in activities, progress/lack thereof re: goals, and response to intervention.
Records Resident's attendance in the Activity Participation/Daily Documentation Book.
Presents a program of Activities to meet the needs and interests of each Resident.
Meets weekly or as scheduled with Life Enrichment Department staff to coordinate accountabilities of the department.
Makes suggestions to the Life Enrichment Director for possible group & individual activities to be presented
Presents Activities as scheduled on the Activities Calendar.
Offers 1:1 interventions for Residents who are unable/unwilling to participate in group presentations.
Creates an atmosphere of excitement & anticipation through Special Events programming.
Works with staff to plan the content & presentation of Special Events, encourages Resident/Family interest & participation in Special Events.
Provides "Active Listening" for Residents/Families directed at problem identification & solution. Provides for behavior/adjustment interventions as indicated.
Maintains and changes Bulletin Boards & display cases in the organization as assigned by Director.
Posts written changes to the daily calendar as necessary, contributes to the publication of the monthly Activities Newsletter as assigned.
Prioritizes day-to-day workload completion.
Supervises volunteers and entertainers as needed.
Completes the Initial Activities Assessment, assigned portions of MDS, RAPS, & RAP Summaries as indicated by the Resident Assessment.
Develops and maintains an Activity Plan of Care individualized to reflect and address each Resident's personal needs, complete with goals and interventions.
Attends Care Plan conferences as assigned by Life Enrichment Director.
Completes Quarterly, Annual and significant Change Reassessments 5, 14, 30, and 60 day care plans in a timely manner.
Develops a calendar of activities that is structured and meets the standard of organization, follows state regulations and has variety for assigned unit.
Informs, invites and escorts residents as necessary to groups of their choice.
Has materials and preparation done prior to groups so that group is started on time according to posted schedule.
Performs other duties as required.
Education: Associates Degree in Recreational Therapy
