JOB OVERVIEW: The Activities/Recreation Manager reports to the Director of F&B and is responsible for organizing and directing the overall programming initiatives and activities at The Colony Palm Beach, emphasizing the Beach and Pool experience. This position will be critical in providing communication, logistics, and follow-up with guests, vendors, and key department stakeholders to ensure a seamless resort-activity program and memorable guest experience.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  1. Must have a minimum of two years of supervisory/management experience in luxury, resort hotel/ Forbes-rated property preferred

  2. Prefer experience in a social or recreation program or guest service platform

  3. Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.

  4. Good human relations skills and strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with people at different organizational levels both inside and outside the company.

  5. Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.

  6. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activities and practices.

  7. Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the activities unit.

  8. Must have a sufficient driving record in accordance with our Driving Responsibility Policy


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.

  2. Interacts professionally with guests, vendors, internal staff, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.

  3. Must be able to handle extreme outdoor temperatures and working condition.

  4. Must be constantly alert for guest's safety and comfort.

  5. Must be able to lift, push, pull 50 pounds.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plans, develops, organizes, implements, executes, evaluates, and directs the activity programs of this property to include wellness offerings, holiday enhancements, recreational experiences, pool/beach experiences, and assistance in F&B activities (i.e. Trivia night)

  2. Designs and oversees the Beach Butler and Pool experiences in accordance with the Colony standards and Forbes service practices.

  3. Communicates unique special events, with the partnership of Marketing, such as holiday enhancements, oversees and manages all aspects of event production spanning pre-event through post-event.

  4. Provide direct supervision and organization of vendors and services as booked.

  5. Constantly provide customers with accurate information about the venue and property as well as the services and entertainment offered in each area.

  6. Generates revenue by cultivating strategic partnerships with Marketing, to strengthen and enhance the brand.

  7. Create an organized and comfortable experience for all third-party artists and performers.

  8. Maintain brand service standards regarding quality and service, emphasizing Forbes standards.

  9. Serves as a liaison between Food & Beverage, Guest Services, and Banquet departments.

  10. Evaluate safe work practices in all activities/recreation functions.

  11. Ensures that all activity staff and supporting staff are trained to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests.

  12. Inspect activities functions periodically to ensure that quality control measures are maintained.

  13. Inspects Activities equipment (i.e., chairs, bikes, umbrellas, coolers) and maintains inventory/maintenance/replacement schedule for equipment, involving outside vendor assistance if needed.

  14. Visits guests and provides assistance with activities.

  15. Develops, administers, and coordinates department policies and procedures.

  16. Ensures vendor invoices are processed in a timely matter.

  17. Prepares and plans the Activity Department's budget for food, equipment, supplies, and labor and submits it to the Director of F&B for review, recommendations, and approval; forecasts the unit's needs.

  18. Performs administrative functions such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submits such to the Director of F&B as required.

  19. Report Activities Department operational concerns to the Director of F&B concerning the operation of any program.

  20. Solicits advice from other departments concerning the operation of the programs to identify problem areas and/or improve services.

  21. Serves on, participates in, and attends various property committees (e.g., safety committee).

  22. Provides written and/or oral reports of the programs and activities as required or as may directed by such committee(s).

  23. Meets regularly with activity and/or support staff to develop, conduct, and evaluate activities.

  24. Participates in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development.

  25. Uses computer systems and networks to send and receive electronic mail and create and update newsletters, activity calendars, forms, and collateral material.

  26. Must be competent in the usage of all front office and guest service software/applications and F&B point-of-sale systems.

  27. Complete all other projects that manager may assign
