Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs and organizes such activities as games, arts and crafts, groups and entertainment to assist Residents to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, and to develop confidence needed to participate in group activities.
Regulates content of program in accordance with Residents' capabilities, needs and interests.
Provides one-on-one activities for Residents who are unable to be involved in group activities.
Instructs Residents in stretching and limbering exercises, and individual and group sports.
Counsels and encourages Residents to develop leisure activities. Promotes participation by posting current calendars of events and providing personal verbal invitations to Residents.
Organizes and coordinates special outings and accompanies Residents on outings
Prepares notes and periodic reports for medical staff and other members of treatment team, reflecting Residents' reactions and evidence of progress or regression.
Trains groups of volunteers in techniques of recreation therapy.
Prepares for activities and main.
Displays Job Competencies consistently.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience preferred; training as required for designation of Certified Activities Director.
Language and Math Ability:
Ability to read and write, complete routine reports and provide appropriate written documentation as required. . Ability to speak effectively before groups. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
