Job Description

The Center for Global Engagement is seeking a applicant to perform the following tasks:

1.Coordinate events and services for the Center for Global Engagement.

Collaborate with the Activities Coordinator to organize and chaperone local and on-campus events, service-learning projects, and regional trips as needed. Assist with coordination and drive CGE shuttles including local shopping shuttles, evening activity shuttles, and transportation services to the Louisville International Airport. Collaborate in the development and facilitation of global engagement events, including International Week.

2.Assist with retention and recruitment strategies.

Coordinate CGE international student service delivery in collaboration with the International Student Services Coordinator. Collaborate in the preparation and facilitation of CGE Compass orientation. Maintain information regarding relevant services provided on and off campus that would be useful to international students and scholars.

3.Coordinate day-to-day tasks within the Center for Global Engagement

Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Provide day-to-day administrative support to CGE staff and perform routine administrative office duties. Coordinate the needs of the CGE office including supply procurement, transportation requests, physical plant requests, and technical requests. Collect and track data related to activities, services, and assessment.

4.Assist with CGE communications and marketing.

Develop and distribute marketing materials. Maintain appropriate web, app, and social media content. Develop and maintain online forms, presentations, sign-up sheets, etc. Communicate using intercultural and cross-cultural skills and sensitivity.

5.Support international students' cultural adjustment and integration.

Assist international students and scholars with adjustment to new processes and cultural norms (academic, personal, financial, etc.). Prepare and distribute materials to assist new students when adapting to new environments.

6.Implement and follow institutional or departmental crisis management procedures as appropriate.

7.Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will

  • Understand the value of international education to individuals, the university, and society.

  • Communicate effectively, interpersonally and in writing, with individuals and groups from a variety of cultures and English language proficiencies.

  • Be a responsible self-starter with skills in planning, organizing, and managing a varied workload.

  • Have knowledge of data management processes, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Have proficiency with a wide variety of technologies including Microsoft 365.

  • Be flexible and able to work a varied schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

  • Be eligible for certification to drive university vehicles, including 15-passenger vans.

This is a part-time position working 20 hours each week from August through mid-May.
