ActioNet has an open opportunity for a Database Engineer III specializing in database technologies. ActioNet is an IT service provider and solutions integrator headquartered in Vienna, VA, working with the Federal Government and Department of Defense. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in developing, managing, and maintaining database solutions. This role requires a strong background in database management, software engineering, and modern software development methodologies.
Location: Charleston, SC
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain database solutions for various applications.
Integrate database solutions into existing systems and ensure interoperability.
Perform data mining, analysis, and reporting activities to support management inquiries.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to system support personnel.
Implement and ensure adherence to security and compliance standards.
Continuously evaluate and integrate emerging database technologies to enhance service capabilities.
Investigate modernization initiatives involving database technologies, including infrastructure enterprise managed services, and optimizations of commercial cloud-hosted systems.
Support the system development lifecycle (SDLC), including evaluation, planning, architectural analysis, design, engineering, testing, documentation, and integration activities.
Optimize database performance through tuning, configuration, and load testing to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions for databases.
Manage various operating systems related to database environments, including Windows, Red Hat Linux, Amazon Linux, Linux AIX, and Oracle Solaris.
Required Qualifications:
Active Secret clearance, with eligibility for Top Secret
Master's degree with ten (10) years of experience or Bachelor's degree with fourteen (14) years of experience in professional research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs focused on database maintenance within an application area.
Experience with research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs.
Application of programming concepts
Experience with modern software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps)
Experience supervising and/or mentoring team members
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in supporting systems engineering or systems administration within an enterprise hosting environment.
Familiarity with enterprise managed services and multiple interconnected systems.
Required Certifications:
CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) or Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
Cloud certifications such as AWS Architect, Developer, and SysOps Professional
Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification
