The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for researching and analyzing credit risks, assessing credit history and approving or denying extension of credit to potential customers. This team member has contact with other company departments, as well as automobile dealers and other finance and credit sources.



  • Analyze credit data to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit

  • Make decisions to approve or deny the extension of credit within set credit authority established by senior management and state/federal laws

  • Develop sufficient dealer relationships that ensure volume objectives and credit quality

  • Capture automotive finance contracts that meet Americredit/GM Financial profitability criteria for pricing and performance

  • Ensure branch office cooperation with other departments, to maximize efficiency within the company

  • Ensure all queues are worked to acceptable service levels

  • Conduct joint dealer calls with Dealer Relationship Manager (DRM) on an as needed basis

  • Perform outbound telemarketing calls to the dealer customer

  • Establish and track monthly goals for assigned dealers

  • Ensure proper documentation is received on all deals

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Conform with all corporate policies and procedures



  • Knowledge consumer finance and banking environment

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required


  • 2-3 years of underwriting/sales in the automotive industry preferred

VIEW JOBS 4/23/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-22T00:00 Evaluates financial statements and analyzes credit risk for the purpose of recommending and reviewing customer credit limits on prospective accounts or continued on existing accounts during periodic reviews. * Collects and analyzes various forms of financial information, credit reports, public debt ratings, etc. and prepares reports to make recommendation for establishing credit limits. Ensures credit limit recommendations fall within company guidelines for both new and existing customers. Ensures the credit reviews outline transaction, purpose, strengths, risks, and risk mitigants. * Reviews daily credit exposure reports to ensure compliance with established credit limits and payments terms as well as recommending and implementing solutions to appropriately handle customers who exceed their established credit limits, cease operations, or are involved in litigation or bankruptcy. Collects on past due accounts as needed. * Communicates credit and customer issues professionally to both internal (Legal, Accounting, Treasury, Marketing) and external contacts to help resolve credit related issues. Maintains customer relationships to facilitate collections. * Determines alternative sales methods if unsecured credit cannot be approved, including negotiating collateral such as personal corporate guaranties; bank standby and/or documentary letters of credit; bank guarantees and other security instruments. Requests and coordinates language for incoming bank letters of credit, and personal/corporate guarantees with Legal and the customer. Monitors security instruments received from customers to ensure timely renewal and execution on a timely basis. * Prepares reports such aging report, customer exposure report, bad debt, and sales reports. * Coordinates the issuance of corporate guarantees while working closely with Legal and suppliers, as needed. Assists Marketing and Purchasing departments to provide necessary data to establish credit with suppliers. Reviews crude/product purchase contracts and crude net-out agreements, reconciles amounts due suppliers, prepares payment undertakings, and supplier exposure reports. This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay. * High school diploma or GED required. * Bilingual in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) required. * Bachelor's or higher level degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. * 1 year of accounting or finance experience preferred. * Prior experience in the refining industry operations environment preferred. Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
