UTC Climate, Controls & Security (CCS) is a unit of United Technologies Corp., a leading provider to the aerospace and building systems industries worldwide.

We are looking for an ACE Leader, who will be responsible for deployment and advancement of the ACE Operating Systems across the CCS Global Engineering Organizations. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Robust Design and will be based in Farmington, CT.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain ACE Culture

  • ACE Competency development

  • Support and facilitate ACE Tools usage

  • Manage ACE Assessments

  • Lead the Engineering Metrics Accountability Board and activities that drive engineering effectiveness

  • Lead members of the ACE in Engineering Network. This global network includes the ACE Leads from CCS Engineering Centers

Objectives

  • Create a culture were ACE is fostered as a strategic approach to meet business objectives

  • Meet targets of the ACE Certification Program

  • Assist Business Units establish ACE self-sufficiency plans and support their implementation

  • Facilitate and review training and events

  • Analyze use of ACE tools and search for new technologies to facilitate usage of ACE tools

  • Maintain & advance ACE levels according to the ACE Assessment Plan

  • Drive engineering centers to create accurate self-assessments and adjust ACE levels as appropriate

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in an engineering environment

  • Experience in leading cross functional, global projects

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English. Other languages are an advantage

  • Proficient in the use of appropriate cause analysis tools and quality problem-solving tools, such as root cause analysis, fishbone diagrams, FMEA, etc.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Engineering or related field

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or significant experience in applying Quality and lean tools

  • Certified Assessor for ACE desired

  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in an engineering environment

  • Act as a change agent with strong influencing skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office & Minitab

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the ACE Certification Program (ACP) which provides both the knowledge and skill development necessary to enable continuous improvement for operational excellence across UTC to enable customer satisfaction, engaged employees and delighted shareholders. In addition, this individual will be the ACE leader supporting the UTC Agile transformation in partnership with Digital and Technology functions. The successful incumbent for this role should have a strong background implementing continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies across office, engineering and factory operations. Candidate should have broad knowledge of industry standard Lean and Quality Systems and ability to drive new strategies across a large enterprise. Responsibilities: * Drive enterprise strategy for ACP in alignment with overall ACE Strategy * Lead ACP Council to ensure continuous improvement and alignment to customer needs of the program * Lead initiatives that ensure enterprise and functional alignment to the program (Lifelong Learning, University partnerships, industry standards) * Identify and drive through benchmarking new ways of learning and training support across UTC for the deployments of ACP (virtual training, adult learning methods) * Lead Enterprise ACE Certification Program * Ensure direction of program meets customer needs * Ensure all ACP processes are mature and stable; delivering value to the customers * Create and provide all program communications * Own supplier relationships for support of overall program * Lead and coordinate all projects associated with ACP Program enhancements and identified deliverables * Manage budget for ACP Program support and initiatives * Drive ACP IT strategy and oversee management of the digital tools in alignment with ACP Program and ACE strategies * Work with IT suppliers to set priorities and manage activities as related to the ACP application * Manage budget for IT systems * Manage contractor for support of ACP application * Lead the enterprise Agile adoption and transformation initiative for the ACE Operating System * Coordinate with leaders across UTC from various functions in the design and deployment of Agile by embedding into the ACE Operating System * Provide updates to strategic initiatives and projects to executive level councils (Quality Council, Operations Council) Education / Certifications Bachelor's Degree Required.
