DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

SUMMARY:

Manually install wire rings, armors, eyelets, and grommets into the bodies of various types of head gaskets. Operate closing press, vision system, X, Y table, wire sizer and pre close machine.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and operate wire ring sizer, pre-close press and closing press.

  • Set up and operate X, Y table.

  • Set up and operate vision system.

  • Set up and operate packaging station

  • Identify and troubleshoot process, material and equipment problems.

  • Perform inspection on inbound materials and dies.

  • Perform SPC.

  • Order tools from the Tool Crib

  • Cross train team members on technical and operating tasks.

  • Completes all daily production paperwork including production sheets, move tickets, quality logs, equipment logs, safety checklists and process control logs.

  • Move parts by hand or using a hand-operated, non-powered truck.

  • Follows the Quality Management System requirements as outlined in the process notes on the press card, the applicable QMS procedures and work instructions; and suggests ways for continual improvement.

  • Promptly reports quality problems and shuts down the equipment if unable to resolve.

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

  • Follows safety rules and regulations, participates in safety meetings and suggests ways for continual improvement.

  • Promptly reports personal injuries and unsafe conditions and helps to resolve them.

  • Understand FMPS and lean manufacturing concepts and the importance of the line status boards.

  • Willing and able to cross train in other departments within the Value Stream

  • Perform related duties and assignments that are consistent with knowledge and training.

REQUIREMENTS:

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Set up and operate all presses and equipment in the Ace Cell.

  • Ability to trouble shoot all equipment during set ups and while running.

  • Ability to coordinate routine maintenance for machines with our maintenance and technician departments

  • First article, Final Audit, SPC Certified

  • Complete cleaning of dies

  • Ability to read and write well enough to perform simple arithmetic calculations and change machine settings.

  • Ability to read and understand press cards, procedures, work instructions, safety rules and warning signs.

  • Analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize own work, complete work on schedule and maintain required records and logs.

  • Ability and desire to work as part of a team. Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with a variety of employees.

  • Ability to perform job completions, move transactions, scrap reporting and printing of job paperwork.

  • Coordinate rework within cell

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to forty pounds on a daily basis.

  • Ability to walk and move about, stoop and bend.

  • Ability to stand for an eight hour shift.

  • Ability to reach and grab with arms and hands, and manual dexterity to operate machines with precision.

  • Normal or corrected vision necessary to read directions and closely examine parts; and to distinguish colors.

  • Normal hearing in order to detect equipment and motor malfunctions.

  • Ability to pull, lift and transport gaskets to and from various locations within the assigned location.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in areas that can be uncomfortable due to noise, odors and temperature extremes.

  • Works regularly with machines where carelessness could result in serious injury and cuts, bruises, or muscle pulls. Serious injuries can be avoided if established safety precautions are followed
