ACE Advanced Studies Instructor applicants are teachers currently employed by an ACE partner school district seeking approval to teach a course for GCC credit at the high school as a part of their regular course offerings.

Requirements:

Successful candidates will:

Have a Master's Degree in the discipline they are seeking to teach or a related Master's Degree with at least 12 credit hour of graduate study in the discipline.

Have the approval of their school administration to offer the GCC course.

Submit a syllabus for approval prior to the course being offered for student registration.

Additional Information:

After approval, Advanced Studies Instructors must follow all procedures in the Instructor Handbook and the Memorandum of Understanding.

VIEW JOBS 7/27/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-10-25T00:00 Job Description: GENERAL FUNCTIONS Teach courses in the Solar Electric Technician program. Participate in the development, review, assessment and maintenance of the curricula. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Teach solar courses such as Introduction to Solar Electric (including basic electricity and electronics), installation of solar panels, site evaluation, safety, electrical codes, and related topics at the Batavia campus or campus centers, day, evening and/or weekends as needed. Review, update, develop, assess, and maintain of quality of the curricula. Assist in recruitment, retention, advisement and graduation of students enrolled in program. Maintain lab space and assist/advise with ordering materials and equipment. OTHER Must be physically able to lift 40 pounds, and safely manage tools and equipment. Must be computer literate; able to use basic computer programs to create teaching materials, maintain College assigned email, and maintain records such as attendance and grades. Requirements: Educational Background Bachelor's degree required. New York State licensed electrician preferred or NABCEP certification in Solar Installation. Experience Two years of working in Solar Installation or as a Licensed Electrician required. Special Skills or Requirements Strong teaching skills required and the ability to manage students in a learning environment. Understanding/knowledge of the wide range of instructional strategies and modes of instruction, commitment to applied learning and student-centered classrooms preferred. Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to diverse people in the broadest sense including race, color, national origin, religion, creed, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity, familial status, pregnancy, predisposing genetic characteristics, military status, domestic violence victim status, or criminal conviction. Must be able to work effectively with community college students, staff, and area professionals. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching and learning, a sense of humor, a positive attitude. (S)he must be a friendly, enthusiastic team player with a strong work ethic who contributes to Genesee's supportive community, dedicated to effective innovative strategies for student success.
