The Accreditation Project Manager is responsible for managing projects and supporting quality improvement initiatives for the School of Medicine's accreditation compliance program. This position will assist in organizing and coordinating an effective and efficient Liaison Committee of Medical Education (LCME) and Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) accreditation process, including a LCME site visit in 2021-2022. Most of the duties of the position require a close working relationship with other leaders in Medical Education. The Project Manager reports directly to the Director of Accreditation, Compliance, and CQI.

  • Assist in monitoring LCME and SACSCOC standards and work with appropriate faculty and staff to ensure compliance, including ongoing quality improvement and preparation for the institutional self-study, database population, and accreditation site visits (next to occur in 2021-2022).

  • Analyzes trends, outcomes, strengths, and weaknesses of key metrics related to LCME and SACSCOC.

  • Utilize project management techniques and tools to track and monitor timetables, action items, deliverables and contingency plans for CQI initiatives and SOM accreditation processes.

  • Acts as a super-user of the system(s) for curriculum management, assessment, and evaluation.

  • Provides staff training, support and oversight of accreditation- related initiatives and data collection systems.

  • Conducts needs assessments, documentation and tools to meet accreditation requirements.

  • Leads accreditation-related professional development for coordinators and program directors.

  • Plans, executes and manages a variety of projects to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives.

  • Coordinates efforts between various stakeholders; coordinates project activities; assigns tasks and provides guidance to personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the project.

  • May prepare or participate in the preparation of IRB proposals, abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation as required.

  • Reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is made toward specified program objectives.

  • May support committees in scheduling, agenda setting and recording of minutes.

  • Performs other job related duties as required.


  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Four years of relevant work experience required.


  • Master's degree.

  • Four years of relevant work experience required.

  • One to two years of project management experience preferred.

  • Previous experience with accreditation preferred.


  • Ability to work independently with close attention to detail.

  • Ability to use independent judgment to solve problems.

KEY FUNCTIONS Organize and lead mock tracer activities to include reporting as indicated. Collaborate with assigned accreditation chapter leaders to evaluate and maintain readiness. Ensure that the data for accreditation chapters is current and remains available for impending accreditation/regulatory site visits. Prepare and support chapter leaders and the organization in accreditation/regulatory readiness efforts. Participate in and/or lead Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) or other improvement projects, when indicated Provide input into interpretation of operational and clinically related standards. Provide educational support when indicated. Maintain, support, and provide education for accreditation/regulatory activities and databases/systems. Ensure reporting of compliance and/or address needs for readiness efforts. Collaborate with all institutional disciplines to ensure preparedness and compliance with accreditation and regulatory surveys/activities. EDUCATION Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field. EXPERIENCE Required: Five years of healthcare experience. LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
