Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Records financial data to produce accurate financial reports.

  • Prepares and enters journal entries monthly and at year end.

  • Prepares or assists with bank reconciliations.

  • Assists with yearend audit.

  • Reconciles and reports differences or issues found in financial records.

  • Records, and deposits cash/checks/credit cards.

  • Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.

  • Creates invoices according to company practices.

  • Maintains and updates customer files.

  • Identifies delinquent accounts and contacts delinquent accountholders to request payment, escalating to COO as necessary.

  • Creates reports regarding the status of customer accounts as requested.

  • Collaborates with the COO to reconcile accounts receivable.

  • Reconciles revenue accounts each month.

  • Tracks financial aid awards and enrollment.

  • Produces enrollment reports.

  • Communicates and coordinates financial aid, aid decisions come from FA committee.

  • Maintains paper and electronic files for accounts receivable as needed.

  • Records donations into fundraising software and issues acknowledgements.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis.

  • Ability to use accounting software to record, store, and analyze financial data.

  • Ability to efficiently operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel or related programs.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree with accounting coursework preferred.

  • At least 5-7 years of bookkeeping experience preferred, preferably in non-profits/education.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
