POSITION SCOPE

The A/R Support person will assist the A/R Manager in daily processing of accounts receivable payments. Individual will help in preparing reports, process checks, invoicing, answering phones, and assist in monthly and quarterly reporting.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • A/R monthly processing duties.

  • Process and applies payments as received

  • Accurately records all payment methods for cash, check, etc.

  • Create monthly statements effectively.

  • Check A/R accounts daily for past due customers.

  • Assist in maintaining customer files.

  • Verify discrepancies and resolve customer billing issues.

  • Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly reports.

  • Serve as a support role to other members of the accounting department.

  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND

  • Background in Microsoft Office software.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Ability to work in teams.

The mission of the San Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP) is to develop and deliver water for irrigation and to provide reliable and efficient electric service. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities Serves as teller to collect payments directly from the customer in accordance with policy and protocol. Duties include, but are not limited to: reviewing documents to verify accounting data as necessary, entering data into the Electric Utility Management System (EUMS); reconciling accounts comparing account balances with related data to assure agreement; reviewing records and source documents to identify the sources of discrepancies, and determining the entries required to bring the account into balance; researching all transactions to resolve any problems; examining worksheets to verify the accuracy of accounts and adequacy of supporting data; classifying accounting transactions that include verifying the accuracy and completeness of the accounting data; determining the general ledger accounts, journals and subsidiary accounts affected and the debit/credit entries to be made; summarizing transactions and preparing control documents or other posting documents reflecting the entries to be made; preparing timely and accurate bills; ensuring that updates of billing account and customer information are up-to-date; developing repayment plans/payment extensions based on account and other information in accordance with DOI/BIA SCIP authorized procedures; monitoring receipts, maintaining suspense on delinquent accounts and ensuring that system accounts (late fees, rates, deposits) are accurate; making determinations and recommendations, as to the necessary actions needed for each delinquent account; contacting customers by phone and/or in writing to resolve outstanding payments; maintaining appropriate debt accounting records used to document collection efforts, and preparing financial reports connected with EUMS; and referring debt to U.S. Treasury in accordance with the Debt Collection Improvement Act and other subsequent Treasury guidance.
