Overview

The A/R Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of staff that carry out the posting of payments from insurance companies, patients, or any third-party payers to customer accounts. The Supervisor will provide support to the A/R Vice President- and other A/R departments as needed. A/R Supervisors assure staff adherence to all department policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of A/R Posting staff.

  • Interact effectively with team leads and department leadership to resolve complex issues and provide cross shift/cross function/cross organizational support.

  • Demonstrates efficiency by determining priority and performing procedures rapidly.

  • Develops training programs for positions within the department.

  • Reviews and processes audits for quality control; reporting weekly, monthly, and quarterly department statistics in regards to employee production as warranted.

  • Monitors staff development on proficiency in processing the minimum stat requirement (determined by A/R Policy) within the 90-day probationary period of employment.

  • Utilize personal and professional skills to promote interdepartmental relationships.

  • Maintains employee documentation and facilitates evaluations/corrective actions as needed.

  • Respects, maintains and ensures the confidentiality of information relative to SHUSA, its clients and patients.

  • Promotes and maintains a positive work environment.

  • Ensures adherence to established A/R billing policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Ability to lead an A/R team with minimal direction

  • Effective communication with subordinate team members

  • Effective communication with department leadership as needed

  • Ensure staff adherence to all established policies and procedures

  • Act as a role model to promote relationships and create a supportive business climate

  • Perform duties in a timely and accurate manner

  • Maintain confidentiality of information

  • Possess effective written, verbal and electronic communication skills

  • Ability to work under deadlines

Education:

High School diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • 2 years' supervisory experience in Accounts Receivable/Medical Billing

  • 3 years' experience in AR Posting

  • Experience with medical coding, private insurance, laboratory and/or medical billing

  • Customer service experience

  • Bilingual speaking skills/Spanish

  • Experience in multitasking environment

License Certification:

N/A

Physical Capabilities:

  • Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry 5 to 50 lbs.)

  • Travel to other SHUSA divisions as needed

  • Extensive computer work

  • Frequent, prolonged standing/sitting/walking

  • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching to handle/file documents

  • Manipulation of tools, objects and equipment: pushing, pulling, reaching (above shoulder height), grasping, pinching (thumb and forefinger) and twisting with hand and wrist

  • Frequent use of telephone and fax
